Myrrhzone Molyac Institute Marks 10th Anniversary with Success in โKareube Feed Supplement,โ Leading the Way in Animal Welfare
Myrrhzone Molyac Institute (CEO Ji-an Kim), celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, announced on the 25th that it has successfully manufactured 'Kareube Feed Supplement.' This innovative product is based on MHS-90 (a patented fermented myrrh complex; Patent No. 10-2223084), which is specifically developed as an antimicrobial and immune-boosting additive for livestock using myrrh and Scutellaria baicalensis (Gold).
Dr. Jin-woo Kim (Ph.D. in Engineering), Director of Myrrhzone Molyac Institute and a renowned expert who has dedicated 20 years to myrrh research, explained: "'Kareube Feed Supplement' was developed by combining the patented myrrh complex extract (MHS-90) with taurine, an essential amino acid for livestock and pets. It is currently being distributed primarily to poultry farms, where it is receiving highly positive feedback from industry officials."
Myrrh (Kareube) is a resin obtained by incising the bark of the Commiphora myrrha tree, native to the Middle East and Africa. Historically, myrrh was a precious medicinal substance used for wound healing and oral diseases. Due to its rarity, it was reserved for royalty, and the Bible famously records it as one of the gifts presented by the Magi to the infant Jesus.
Through two decades of scientific inquiry, Dr. Kim has verified myrrh's antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties, publishing his findings in the SCI-indexed global journal Applied Sciences. His research identified that myrrh contains a variety of active compounds, including polyphenols and terpenoids. Representative polyphenols include tannic acid, rutin, and quercetin, while key terpenoids include furanoeudesma-1,3-diene and curzerene.
According to Dr. Kimโs published paper, rutin and quercetin were experimentally proven effective for anti-inflammation, while furanoeudesma and curzerene showed significant efficacy in virus reduction. Antiviral testing with the myrrh complex confirmed an 81.2% reduction in the influenza virus.
Furthermore, analysis of the MHS-90 compound revealed the presence of 2-Hydroxybenzyl alcohol, which contributes to anti-inflammatory actions, and 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural, which is involved in antioxidant activities. Based on these comprehensive results, following its patent for anti-inflammatory and analgesic agents, the institute developed the Kareube Feed Supplement to provide beneficial effects to both livestock and pets.
Kareube Poultry Farm (located in Janghowon-eup, Icheon, Gyeonggi-do), which produces antibiotic-free fertilized eggs, has been diluting Kareube Feed Supplement into the water supply for its chickens for about four years.
Ki-young Kim, CEO of Kareube Poultry Farm, stated: "Since feeding the chickens the Kareube (Myrrh) Supplement, I have noticed they are less prone to respiratory infections and their bone structure has become sturdier. A major advantage is that the eggs have no fishy odor, the shells are harder, and they maintain freshness longer even at room temperature." He added, "Salmonella is not detected thanks to the supplement, allowing us to produce safe, fertilized eggs. It is rewarding to supply consumers with eggs from healthy chickens that are free to roam and fed with the Kareube supplement."
