Myrrhzone Molyac Institute Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Strategic MOU with the Republic of Sierra Leone
Myrrhzone Molyac Institute (CEO Ji-an Kim), a specialized firm in myrrh fermentation, announced on the 22nd that it celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Grand Hill Convention in Samseong-dong, Seoul. During the ceremony, attended by approximately 200 guests, the institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Republic of Sierra Leone for a "Joint Project to Enhance Agricultural Crops in Sierra Leone using Proprietary Myrrh Extract Technology."
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of guests, including Myrrhzone Molyac Institute CEO Ji-an Kim, founder Dr. Jin-woo Kim, H.E. Paul Sobba Massaquoi, Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Korea, Young-jae Lee, Chairman of the Africa Foundation, and various academic and industry leaders such as Dr. Yong-geun Choi, CEO of Choi Lab.
Following the opening remarks by CEO Ji-an Kim, plaques of appreciation were presented to former CEO Yong-man Park (currently CEO of Toast & Company) and Suk-yi Kim, CEO of The Myrrh Life. Additionally, scholarships were awarded to five recipients, including three students from Yangseo High School.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of the MOU between Myrrhzone Molyac Institute, Choi Lab, and Ambassador Paul Sobba Massaquoi. The parties agreed to actively participate in a joint agricultural development project in Sierra Leone, leveraging the institute's proprietary technology—MHS-90 (a fermented myrrh complex extract).
The Republic of Sierra Leone, located on the Atlantic coast of West Africa, is a nation well-known for its diamond mining industry. Through this partnership, Myrrhzone Molyac Institute plans to expand its technological footprint into the African continent.
Dr. Jin-woo Kim, founder and Director of the institute, reflected on the milestone: "I started this journey 20 years ago, driven by curiosity about the myrrh mentioned in the Bible. Myrrh was once a barren field of study in Korea, but through two decades of scientific research, we verified its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral (influenza reduction) effects, publishing our findings in the SCI-indexed journal Applied Sciences."
He added, "Celebrating our 10th anniversary by signing this MOU with Sierra Leone is deeply rewarding. In collaboration with Njala University in Sierra Leone, we will share our proprietary technology and exchange natural raw materials. Moving forward, we plan to promote academic research, provide scholarships, and foster education, strengthening the friendship and mutual understanding between the people of South Korea and Sierra Leone.
